What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO) ?

Do you know why some of the websites get the rank better than the other? It’s because of a web-marketing technique which is called Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
SEO is a technique for improving the visibility of your website and helps to obtain high rank in the search result page of search engine i.e. Google, Yahoo, Bing etc.

How  Search Engine Works?

Search engine performs several activities to deliver the search results -  crawling, indexing, processing, calculating relevancy, and retrieving.
At First , search engine crawl the web by a piece of software called crawler or spider or Googlebot. Crawler follows the link one page to another and index whatever they find in their way.
After a page is crawled, the next step is to index its content. The indexed page is stored in a giant database, from where it can later be retrieved. Indexing process is depending on meta tag which you used. A no-index tag means that page will not be added into the web search’s index.
When a search request comes, at that times search engine processes it. It compares the search string of those the search request with the indexed pages in the database.  When the search engine finds the more than one page which contains search string, then the search engine starts calculating the relevancy of each of the pages in its index.
There are various algorithms to calculate relevancy. Various algorithm gives different search engine result for the same search queries. Because each of the algorithm has depend on different common factors like link, keyword density etc to calculate relevancy. Different search engine follow different algorithm. So, different search engine give different search engine result for same queries. Besides that, there has one more important factor to keep in mind. The major search engine like Google, Yahoo , Bing etc changes their algorithm periodically. If you want to keep the top ranking, you must follow the latest algorithm of the search engine and you must need the proper changes of your pages in order to the latest changes of algorithm.
The  last step of search engine activity is retrieving the results. It is simply display the best matched results in the browser.
